Eyes / Vision

Eyes are important for people with Autism because they play a crucial role in and social interaction. Many individuals with Autism struggle with eye contact, which can make it difficult them to connect with others and understand social cues. However, with proper support and understanding, individuals with Autism can learn to use eye contact effectively and improve their social skills.

Autistic individuals often have a remarkable visual memory, which allows them to recall details and patterns with great accuracy. This may be due to differences in the way their brains process and store information. While this can be a strength, it can also present challenges in other areas of cognition and communication

How can I help?

Some environments can be too visually stimulating for people with autism due to sensory processing differences. Strategies to help reduce the overwhelm in visually overstimulating environments include reducing clutter, using calming colors, providing a quiet space, and using visual or social stories to prepare for the environment.

This room, free from too many colours, and not cluttered, may be a less over-stimulating environment
